A friend of mine who loves throwing parties decided to having a Friendsgiving potluck the week before Thanksgiving. She quickly sought my help due to my obvious party planning obsession! Her parties are always tons of fun, whether we end up playing drinking games, actual games or having a bit too much of her signature drink of the night, I always leave happy that I went.
So! The tricky part about this particular party surrounds the fact that she invited over 40 people! Most of the time her parties take place both inside and outside but this particular Thursday was set to have a high of 47 degrees, so yeah, no outside for us. As you can imagine, that made figuring out seating, the menu, foot traffic, etc, a bit more difficult than the average party especially since she insisted that it be sit down dinner style!
Somehow she and I managed to arrange a couple of rectangular tables, folding chairs and her couch to sit everyone nice and comfy. Lets just say, we all left feeling a lot closer! LOL!
For the table setting, I used the same gold woven chargers, gold votive candle holders, stone terrariums and twine wrapped mini wine bottles used for my wedding this past July to help bring the tables together. We made a couple trips to all the big names when it comes to throwing parties (Party city, Target, Michaels, Walmart) to get festive plates, table cloths and everything we needed to make the cutest napkins ever. In true Chanelle fashion I overdid it a bit and ended up buying mini pumpkins from Amazon to add just a little bit more Thanksgiving flavor!
My favorite Thanksgiving side is stuffing, so naturally thats what I made. It’s filled with so many yummy ingredients that make every bite deliciously satisfying. I hadn’t ever made anything to serve that many people so I was a bit intimidated at first but it turned out perfectly! Here’s the recipe.
I can definitely say that the party was a success, everyone enjoyed themselves and left just a tiny bit chubbier. The food was endless, the drinks were flowing and gratitude was in the air. Friendsgiving at my house next year!
