Snowflake Charger

This past week I’d been trying to put together a festive tablescape for Christmas day dinner. Luckily, I had everything I needed for the centerpiece, (I’ll be posting next week) but I wanted to go the extra mile with cute chargers. After looking through Amazon, Pier 1, Ikea and pretty much all over the internet, I realized that I wasn’t going to find anything that I was looking for at an affordable price. I also went to Homegoods and 1. they didn’t have what I was looking for, 2. everything they had was over $10. I needed 8 chargers so I certainly wasn’t going to pay over $80 for something I needed just for Christmas day.

So! I decided that it was DIY time. I figured that I didn’t need an actual plate and just needed something that would decorate around the dinner plate. I played with the idea of weaving together greenery (almost like a wreath) or gluing together some faux cranberry vines, but those ideas were either more money than I was willing to spend, or too much work. Instead, I opted to use an idea I found while looking for Christmas themed chargers online. Snowflake decorations! And where would I get affordable snowflake decorations? Only the best store for DIY project of course. The Dollar Store! In my case, Dollar Tree. I bought 14 packs of clear plastic snowflake decorations, and spent less than $15. I was able to make 8 chargers, talk about a steal of a deal.

Btw, these were extremely easy to make!

What you need:

  • Approx. 17 snowflakes for each charger
  • Glue Gun
  • Piece of paper bigger than the plate you choose to use
  • Plate
  • Pencil

Turn the plate upside down on the piece of paper and make an outline with the pencil.

Use the outline as a guide for gluing the snowflakes, one on top the other. I overlapped them and used about 17 snowflakes per charger.

There you have it. Cute and very festive Christmas plate chargers on a budget! Look out for my Christmas themed centerpiece next week!
